The second week begins and it's a busy week ahead!
Sarah has meetings with Hillcrest AIDS Centre and HOLAH to attend as well as catching up with some of the students we support. We're all heading off to the Drakondale Girls Choir School on Tuesday. We've got more books to pick up and Doreen has ordered curtains for First Step Right School which will need to be put up. There's painting in the bathrooms at school to do which Kyle and Hana will crack on with. There's blankets to donate, and shopping to be done. Alison, Hana and Doreen each came to South Africa with donations from friends and family and so will buy various bits and pieces for the projects, depending on the need they saw last week.

We can't wait to see what's in store this week and will be sure to share some pictures along the way!

We know you're awesome (you're reading this and supporting GAGA UK, so how could you not be?!), but here's a reminder to remember just how awesome you are!

It's always great to hear back from people who have visited the projects GAGA UK supports. All of the projects we visited which GAGA support were amazing each in their own way. First Step Right School manages incredibly well considering what they haven’t got. Gael is totally dedicated and has the interest of the children at heart in all she does. She has a clear idea of what is still needed and is excellent at delegating practical jobs to volunteers. Thursday was a showing off kind of day. I’m so proud to be a part of GAGA and of our supporters and donors being able to do so much good. Gogo Doreen headed off to First Step Right to share the books she has bought for the school with the teachers. She has purchased a reading scheme for the school which has books which progress in levels, and come with teachers’ resources. Gael and Allison to 1000 Hills. We were shown around by Sonto, Sibo and Karen who all shared the wonderful work of the centre with us. Sibo shared some of his wisdom, saying that we can't teach children to be who they want to be if the parents don't know they can be whatever they want. It was a lovely way to sum up both the challenges and the possibilities that they are facing with their work. Who's going to SA?

In March, I'll be heading out to South Africa once again, to visit GAGA supported projects. It's always a great opportunity to meet up with people at the projects, and find out about their recent successes as well as any challenges they may be facing. At GAGA, we pride ourselves on strong relationships with both our projects and supporters. These trips to South Africa reignite those relationships, and give me a chance to be re-energised and give me a boost of motivation to support such worthy and amazing projects. I look forward to sharing stories from each of the projects I visit. But first... This year, I'll be joined by 5 others...
